Seals

Environmental & Dust Contamination Barrier: It creates an airtight seal around internal optics (such as protective lenses, collimating lenses, or focusing optics) to prevent airborne dust, oils, metallic fumes, and debris from penetrating the inner optical chamber. Even micro-particles on a lens can absorb laser energy, leading to thermal distortion or burnt optics.

Assist Gas Pressure Retention: In laser cutting systems, high-pressure assist gases (such as Nitrogen or Oxygen up to 25–30 bar) pass through the nozzle. The seal ring prevents these gases from leaking backward into the optical head assembly.

Vibration Damping & Cushioning: It acts as a resilient buffer between rigid components (such as metal lens drawers and glass optical substrates), preventing mechanical stress, micro-chipping, or cracking caused by machine acceleration and vibrations.

Thermal Isolation & Expansion Tolerance: Made from heat-resistant polymers (such as PTFE/Teflon or specialized fluoro-rubbers), it accommodates thermal expansion differences between metal housings and optical glass without breaking the seal.
